Expert Quaternary Annulus Cleaning Services

Advanced Turbine Support provides professional quaternary annulus cleaning services for gas turbines, ensuring optimal combustion performance and long-term reliability. Our team specializes in cleaning and inspection of the quaternary annulus chamber, fuel paths, and associated components across a wide range of turbine models.

Over time, annulus chambers in forward combustion systems accumulate deposits and oxidation that can restrict quaternary fuel flow. Using a proprietary method to clean and restore your quaternary fuel gas distribution annulus, we remove scale, debris, and corrosion to return your turbine combustion system to peak condition.

Inspection and Cleaning Services for the Quaternary Annulus Chamber

Our inspection and cleaning services focus on identifying buildup inside the quaternary annulus chamber 16, fuel passages, and combustion chamber of the forward section of the turbine.

Advanced Turbine Support technicians access the quaternary fuel gas distribution annulus and fuel inlet orifice 14to eliminate obstructions in the gas turbine fuel chamber components.

Our inspection process includes:

  • Borescope and UT Inspection – Verifying wall thickness and cleanliness in the quaternary fuel circuit 12 and distribution annulus chamber 16 extending around the forward combustion section.
  • Dry Cleaning Method – A proven method of cleaning the quaternary fuel gas inlet orifice, removing oxidation and debris from inside fuel pathways.
  • Mobile Cleaning Unit – Performed on-site with a mobile cleaning unit using a specialized method for cleaning high-temperature fuel paths.
  • Post-Clean Verification – Final inspection of the forward casing and turbine combustion casings to ensure unobstructed gas flow.

We can perform the entire cleaning process in one shift—minimizing downtime and ensuring your gas turbine is ready for immediate return to service.

Understanding the Quaternary Annulus in Gas Turbines

In gas turbines such as GE and other OEM models, the quaternary annulus is a circular distribution annulus chamber extending around the combustion chamber. This critical region delivers quaternary fuel into the combustion cans of a gas turbine through multiple quaternary pegs 18.

Scale and contaminants can form inside fuel pathways or channels, reducing airflow and creating pattern imbalances in the combustion chamber. Our team performs inspection and mechanically cleaning the quaternary fuel systems to remove fouling and restore consistent fuel gas in the quaternary system.

The fuel gas distribution annulus chamber involves cutting off blocked fuel pegs, cleaning passages, and reestablishing the gas in the quaternary annulus that ensures even flame propagation.

Method of Mechanically Cleaning the Quaternary Fuel System

Our method of mechanically cleaning involves gaining access to the quaternary annulus and cleaning the annulus channel via the fuel peg openings.
We safely remove the quaternary fuel flange 20, allowing entry through the orifice leading to the quaternary annulus, and use specialized tools to clear buildup from the quaternary fuel inlet orifice leading to the combustion chamber.

Cleaning procedure includes:

  • Cutting Off Fuel Pegs – Controlled cutting off the fuel pegs to reach internal obstructions.
  • Cleaning the Quaternary Fuel Gas – Restoring the clean gas turbine fuel chamber and associated fuel gas distribution annulus chamber.
  • Refinishing & Inspection – Ensuring the quaternary fuel flange and fuel inlet orifice 14 leading to the forward combustion system are free of deposits.
  • Reassembly & Testing – Reconnecting quaternary fuel inlets, sealing, and verifying balanced flow distribution.

This method to clean and inspect internal annulus chambers prevents premature failure, improves fuel mixing, and ensures safe, efficient turbine combustion.

Benefits of Quaternary Annulus Cleaning

Regular cleaning of the quaternary annulus chamber extends turbine service life, maintains stable combustion, and supports compliance with OEM and operational standards.

Advantages include:

  • Restores full flow through quaternary fuel gas inlets and annulus channels.
  • Improves temperature uniformity in the combustion chamber of the forward section.
  • Prevents clogging in fuel gas distribution annulus chambers and quaternary fuel flange assemblies.
  • Enhances gas turbine reliability by reducing the risk of turbine combustion instability.
  • Can be performed at a repair facility or on-site with a mobile cleaning unit for fast turnaround.

With Advanced Turbine Support, your quaternary fuel gas distribution annulus system will remain free of deposits and ready for continuous service.
